Information
Technology provides
software support
and problem resolution
for all Academy-owned computers
and associated peripheral
devices. However,
when employees or
students have problems
with their privately
owned computers,
they need to make
private arrangements
for support and
service. Please
note that most off-campus
repair and troubleshooting
providers expect
a down payment or
credit card number
when the item is
picked up or expect
payment for the
first consultation.
Information Technology
cannot make these
arrangements for
you. When outsourced
technicians are
on campus, they
are working for
the Academy and
cannot provide consultation
regarding personal
machines, nor can
they leave messages
at the Support Desk
for non-Academy
business.
Our first recommendation is for users to contact the vendor where the equipment was purchased or the manufacturer. In the Academy's experience, no local vendor will work on laptops; they generally need to be shipped back to the manufacturer. Students may request onsite support by a vendor of their choice at their own expense, but the visit must be scheduled with previous approval of the dorm head.
